This video abstract introduces a recently published essay ”Performing arts of embodied refusal amid anthropogenic climate change: the Salim Ali Biodiversity Park and Bird Sanctuary, Pune, India”. The essay was written by a geographer Michele Lobo, a mural artist and educator Abha Bhagwat, and an activist and ornithologist Dharmaraj Patil.

The authors discuss different forms of collective activism and embodied refusal used by a diverse group of urban citizens of Pune. The participants are concerned about the slow violence of global warming and pollution that threatens many of the bird species in the Salim Ali Biodiversity Park and Bird Sanctuary.
